Lead Developer (PHP, DB, Enterprise Integration)
Seed Media Group is seeking a senior software developer for a new technology venture. You are comfortable coding, leading architecture, managing other developers, presenting to senior business and IT executives, and interacting with end users. Eager to help build a world-class software development team from the ground up for a new, innovative web-based business. Excited to work in a small but growing company. Ready to roll up your sleeves and lead the daily technical operations of our new venture, but also comfortable growing these operations into a department that you will manage.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with teammates and external stakeholders to determine technical requirements
- Serving as lead developer, architecting and sometimes coding key components of the system
- Documenting architected components for implementation by internal and external resources
- Researching and selecting new technology infrastructure and third-party products to determine feasibility and to implement new features
- Designing enterprise integration solutions such as APIs, data feeds, and distributed components
- Leading and expanding team of in-house developers through recruitment
- Managing in-house developers, including establishment of best practices (code reviews, unit testing, build management) and mentoring
- Coordinating internal and external developers to work as an integrated team
Requirements:
- 4-5 years work experience minimum
- Bachelor degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
- Experience working with a base of users/customers to support a software product
- Experience managing multiple development resources to deliver a large, complex application
- Experience managing servers providing network-based services through the Internet or a WAN
- Experience as architect on large-scale or high-performance websites preferred
Desired Skills:
- 4-5 years software development experience minimum
- 3 years minimum experience leading development on specific software applications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- PHP development experience
- Database design and implementation experience
- Enterprise integration experience -- use of messaging protocols (such as RPC, SOAP) to expose/call remote services through APIs, working with an SOA approach
- Software product support experience - working with a base of users/customers to support an application
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Unix or a Unix-like operating system
- Ability to estimate and track delivery of significant software components in a large system
- Familiarity with Oracle preferred
- Experience managing multiple development resources to deliver a large, complex application
- Experience as architect on large-scale or high-performance websites preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, balance demands/needs of multiple conflicting groups (end users, management, etc.), and learn new technologies quickly
